Shaped by solutions and
driven by a framework
With a background in craftmanship and her bachelor in design at Design Academy Eindhoven, Cara finds a great balance between making and designing. Understanding the production process and using this to enhance the design is crucial in her practice.
With a great passion for problem solving, in both big and small scale, she always starts with a challenge that needs improvement or solving. Staying close to her client and target audience provides a thorough research that creates the framework for her designs.
Her projects always end with a physical product or prototype, but is never just an object. It's the use and context of the product that shapes the solution; product design in a social context.
Her working method includes doing narrow research to create the concept for the project. Through sketching and model making the first iterations come to live. Reality checks and tests help to shape the final design. It’s important to Cara to iterate and adjust between tests, models and sketches. While actively reflecting and looking back helps to stay conform to her research results.
